Ransby is author of the highly acclaimed biography, Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement: A Radical Democratic Vision, which received eight national awards and international recognition, and Eslanda: The Large and Unconventional Life of Mrs. Paul Robeson. As an activist, Ransby was an initiator of the African American Women in Defense of Ourselves campaign in 1991, a co-convener of The Black Radical Congress in 1998, and a founder of Ella\u2019s Daughters, a network of women working in Ella Baker\u2019s tradition.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ar1ee\" data-offset-key=\"doh84-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"doh84-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"doh84-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ar1ee\" data-offset-key=\"erjne-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"erjne-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"erjne-0-0\">This event is free and open to the public.
