Join us for a reading and discussion with award-winning writers Zinzi Clemmons author of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What We Lose <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2017)<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Crystal Hana Kim, author of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If You Leave Me <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2018), whose works explore the intimate legacies of political upheaval, race, migration, sexuality, motherhood, trauma and loss, and the malleability of memory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"button warning radius\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/literary-salon-history-memory-craft-tickets-48220787674\">ATTEND<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE SPEAKERS\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"il\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"imgix-fluid wp-image-5497 size-thumbnail alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/bcrw.barnard.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Zinzi-Clemmons-8051-smaller-150x100.jpg\" alt=\"Zinzi Clemmons\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/>Zinzi Clemmons\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"il\">was raised in Philadelphia by a South African mother and an American father. In 2011, she co-founded the literary journal <\/span><span class=\"il\"><em>Apogee<\/em>, and currently serves as Associate Editor at the <em>Believer<\/em>\u00a0and as Contributing Editor to <em>Literary Hub<\/em>. Her debut\u00a0novel,\u00a0<em>What We Lose<\/em>\u00a0(Viking 2017) was a finalist for the Carnegie Medal, the Aspen Words Literary Prize, and the National Book Critics Circle Leonard Prize. She was a 2017 National Book Award 5 Under 35 Honoree. She was a 2017 PEN America Dau Short Story Prize winner and has received scholarships from the Bread Loaf\u00a0<span class=\"m_771564592554295849gmail-il\">Writers<\/span>\u2019 Conference, Hedgebrook, Jentel, among others. Her work has been published in or is forthcoming from\u00a0<i>The Washington Post, Elle Magazine, Nylon,<\/i>\u00a0<i>Electric Literature,<\/i>\u00a0and elsewhere. She is a contributing editor at\u00a0<i>Apogee Journal<\/i>\u00a0and is the Director of\u00a0<span class=\"m_771564592554295849gmail-il\">Writing<\/span>\u00a0Instruction at Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America.<i>\u00a0<\/i>She lives in Brooklyn with her husband.<\/p>\n<p>Details and Accessibility: This event is free and open to the public.
