In this conversation, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erin Miles Cloud (Movement for Family Power), Jasmine Wali (JMac for Families) and Shannon Perez-Darby (Mandatory Reporting is Not Neutral Project)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will discuss the history of and harms associated with mandatory reporting; its role in policing Black, brown, and indigenous families; and how together we can abolish mandatory reporting while building strong, safe,\u00a0 and connected communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><strong>About the Speakers<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Erin Miles Cloud<\/strong> is the co-director\/co-founder of Movement for Family Power, and a former family defense public defender. She is Baltimore born, and Bronx living. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She is the mother of two beautiful children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A founding member of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/accountablecommunities.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accountable Communities Consortium<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <strong>Shannon Perez-Darby<\/strong> is a queer, mixed-race, Latina, anti-violence advocate and author working to create the conditions to support loving, equitable relationships and communities.\u00a0 Shannon Perez-Darby centers queer and trans communities of color while working to address issues of domestic and sexual violence, accountability, mandatory reporting harm reduction, and abolition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Dean Spade<\/strong> has been working in movements to build queer and trans liberation based in racial and economic justice for the past two decades. He is a Professor at Seattle University School of Law and the author of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/normal-life-revised\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Normal Life: Administrative Violence, Critical Trans Politics, and the Limits of Law<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the director of the documentary \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pinkwashingexposed.net\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pinkwashing Exposed: Seattle Fights Back!<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d and the creator of the mutual aid toolkit at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bigdoorbrigade.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BigDoorBrigade.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. His latest book is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/667900\/mutual-aid-by-dean-spade\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mutual Aid: Building Solidarity During This Crisis (and the Next)<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Jasmine Wali<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Director of Advocacy at JMAC For Families, which works to abolish the current punitive child welfare system and to strengthen the systems of supports that keep families and communities together. She <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has worked in the nonprofit and education sector around the foster system for nearly a decade. She received her MSW from Columbia University with a policy emphasis. She was a Fisher Cummings Fellow, working at the federal Office on Trafficking in Persons and served on the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse project committee to make program eligibility recommendations for federal funding.
