Poet, actor, and performing artist Staceyann Chin is the author of the new poetry collection Crossfire: A Litany For Survival<\/em>, the critically acclaimed memoir The Other Side of Paradise<\/em>, co-writer and original performer in the Tony Award\u2013winning Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam<\/em> on Broadway, and author of the one-woman shows Hands Afire<\/em>, Unspeakable Things<\/em>, Border\/Clash<\/em>, and MotherStruck<\/em>. She has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show<\/em> and 60 Minutes<\/em>, and her poetry has been featured in The New York Times<\/em> and the Washington Post<\/em>. She proudly identifies as Caribbean, Black, Asian, lesbian, a woman, and a resident of New York City, as well as a Jamaican national.<\/p>\n The Anguilla Literary Festival called Alexis Pauline Gumbs \u201cthe pride of Anguilla.\u201d Alexis is the author of Spill: Scenes of Black Feminist Fugitivity<\/em>, M Archive: After the End of the World<\/em>, and Dub: Finding Ceremony<\/em> and co-editor of Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the Front Lines<\/em>.
