{"id":357,"date":"2015-09-09T20:18:12","date_gmt":"2015-09-09T20:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bcrw.barnard.edu\/transnational\/?page_id=357"},"modified":"2015-09-09T20:42:51","modified_gmt":"2015-09-09T20:42:51","slug":"cave-hill","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bcrw.barnard.edu\/transnational\/cave-hill\/","title":{"rendered":"Cave Hill: Women and Global Markets: A View from the Caribbean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In July 2015, BCRW Associate Director Tami Navarro traveled to the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill as part of BCRW\u2019s Transnational Feminisms Initiative in partnership with colleagues in the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/gender\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institute for Gender and Development Studies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IGDS) at the Cave Hill campus.\u00a0While in Barbados, Dr. Navarro taught a module in the IGDS summer course, Caribbean Institute in Gender and Development (CIGAD). \u00a0Dr. Navarro\u2019s session, &#8220;Women and Global Markets: A View from the Caribbean,&#8221; provided students with an overview of development paradigms in the Caribbean and their gendered implications.\u00a0During her visit, Dr. Navarro also delivered a lecture entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/caribbeangenderinstitute.tumblr.com\/post\/123032596273\/dr-tami-navarro-of-the-barnard-centre-for\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Virgin Capital<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which drew from her anthropological research in the US Virgin Islands.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bcrw.barnard.edu\/transnational\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/048.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-361 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/bcrw.barnard.edu\/transnational\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/048-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Cave Hill -
