As you can tell already, Shange is also famous for her collaborations with artists in multiple media. In 2006, she and tenor sax legend David Murray (World Saxophone Quartet) revisited their 30 years of collaboration and friendship through live performances, some of which are captured in the CD Wild Flowers. Since some of the performances are of poems from Nappy Edges, this seemed a good week to make them available. If you are interested in Shange and Jazz performance, Farah Griffith’s excellent essay, “Learning How to Listen: Ntozake Shange’s Work as Aesthetic Primer” is a great start.
This is the first time I’ve used the “playlist” function!!! Cheers to me!!!
