Erotic as Power

“The erotic is a measure between the beginnings of our sense of self and the chaos of our strongest feelings. It is an internal sense of satisfaction to which, once we have experienced it, we know we can aspire. For having experienced the fullness of this depth of feeling and recognizing its power, in honor and self-respect we can require no less of ourselves.” – Audre Lorde from The Uses of the Erotic: Sister Outsider

BCRW is thrilled to host ‘Erotic As Power: A Celebration of our Legacy’ to celebrate the Audre Lorde Project’s 20+ years of organizing for the liberation of Lesbian Gay Bi Two Spirit Trans & Gender Non Conforming (LGBTSTGNC) People of Color. ALP has been committed to expanding the power of LGBTSTGNC people of color by bringing community wellness, progressive social, economic and racial justice work to the frontlines of New York City and social justice movements. In this political moment especially we must rise up for our freedom to honor our legacy & futures of resistance & resilience.

This event will be a celebration of our collective power, our erotic selves, and the vision we will keep lifting up for our collective survival. In the spirit of Audre Lorde’s legacy we hope you will join us on March 30th to inspire, incite, transform and celebrate.
