Cite Black Barnard: Spring 2022 Programming

Faculty and Staff Cite-a-Thon

Kicking off the Cite Black Barnard spring programming and Black History Month, the second annual Black Barnard Cite-a-Thon on Thursday 2/10 will be an opportunity to collaboratively build a resource designed to recognize the contributions of Black Barnard faculty to scholarship, public intellectual life, and the arts. Participants will have time during the event to read and engage with scholarly and artistic material by Black Barnard faculty and to draft short, personalized annotations describing how they might use the text. Participants will be provided with a list of academic and artistic works to choose from, and models of what citations might look like. RSVP here.

Student Cite-a-Thon

The first Cite-a-Thon specifically for students, this will be an opportunity to collaboratively build on a resource designed to recognize the contributions Black Barnard faculty members have made to scholarship, public intellectual life, and the arts. As in the event above, participants will have time during to read and engage with scholarly and artistic material by Black Barnard faculty, and to draft short, personalized annotations describing how they might use the text. Cite Black Barnard Installation
Tuesday, March 1, 2022 – Friday, March 4, 2022
Movement Lab, Milstein Center, Barnard College

The exhibit will include large short excerpts from scholarly or popular articles written by Black Barnard faculty; images relevant to their work; and an edited compilation of clips from their lectures and performances. This exhibit provides an immersive engagement in Barnard faculty work, which will connect to classes in which these texts are taught, as well as bringing in community members who might not otherwise experience the project. Faculty Salon

This inaugural salon event will give community members the opportunity to hear about the research and artistic projects Black Barnard faculty are working on. The Black faculty salon will break the mold of the traditional academic event, providing an informal opportunity for faculty members to share their exciting current or recent research across the disciplines.
