BCRW honors the memory of dear colleague and Center friend, José Esteban Muñoz, who shared his brilliance with us on more than one occasion and inspired our work at every point. We will miss him and join his friends and loved ones in mourning his loss. We will continue to do our best to live up to the example he set for us as a scholar and queer-world-maker.

José last joined BCRW in conversation with Lauren Berlant, Ann Pellegrini, and Tavia Nyong’o at the Public Feelings Salon in April 2011. Video of José’s comments on queer utopianism and cruel optimism is available here. Full-length video of the entire conversation is here.
