BCRW is thrilled to be expanding our team. We’re seeking a post baccalaureate fellow who shares a commitment to intersectional feminist praxis, activist-academic collaborations, and public programming.
About BCRW
Founded in 1971, the Barnard Center for Research on Women brings together scholars and activists through working groups, public events, multimedia projects, publications, and initiatives to advance intersectional social justice feminist analyses and generate concrete steps toward social transformation. We are committed to vibrant and engaged educational models that stimulate research, teaching, art, activism, policy, and social change, which in turn impact the ways we know and understand the world around us.
About the Fellowship
Along with members of the BCRW staff, the post baccalaureate fellow will develop and plan public programming; build relationships with other parts of the College related to events and public programming; collaborate with BCRW staff to support the projects emerging from the Social Justice Institute, especially convenings and workshops that build activist networks; research and generate plans, in collaboration with BCRW’s Director, for the 50th anniversary of the Center (in 2021); and work on other projects as they emerge.
Qualifications
- BA/BS, must be graduating or recently graduated Barnard or Columbia student
- A demonstrated interest in public programming that serves a broad community, including academics, activists, artists, and community members
- Experience coordinating and/or organizing events
- Excellent writing ability
- Well-developed organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
- Problem-solving abilities
- Collaborative and cooperative working style
- Ability to work well with a wide range of people of varying backgrounds and experiences
- Academic and/or activist experience related to the mission of BCRW
Position details:
$45,000/year stipend, with health benefits
Full time: 35 hours per week, some evenings and weekends
Immediate start date, position lasts until June 30, 2020
