The Well Told Story: Lorraine O’Grady

I have selected Lorraine O’Grady’s website because of it’s interactive focus on image and text. As a performance artist, O’Grady’s work occupies a liminal space between the conceptual and the concrete. The theoretical foundations of her work are clearly illustrated thorough writing that also conveys O’Grady’s occupation with the physical.

    Great choice of site Melissa. There is a lot going on in the O'Grady archive that the class would be interested in. For example, her "text" includes, not just information or commentary on the images, but commentary on the process (cf the thoughts on not including 'race' in the captions in the first image.
