Neeti Khanai

Neeti Khanal, Lecturer at Central Department of Sociology/Anthropology at Tribhuvan University, Nepal and recipient of Australian Leadership Awards Scholarship, will give a presentation focused on her recent work, entitled, “Violence Against Disabled Women in Nepal” and interviewing disabled women survivors of violence. Her past work includes an examination of Maoist women’s experience in armed conflict in Nepal.

Ms. Khanal brings an extensive background in supporting, researching and advocating for social inclusion of and preventing violence against disabled women in Nepal. She has additionally served as an investigator and consulted on policy related to addressing violence against the same population. She currently serves as a Lecturer in the Central Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Center for Conflict, Peace and Development Studies at Tribhuvan University in Nepal. Her past work includes research on reproductive health and motherhood of Maoist women during conflict. Neeti has an MA in Sociology from Tribhuvan University and an MA in Women’s Studies from Monash University in Australia.
